Arthur (Art) McKinney, Federal Programs Director for Eastern Shawnee Companies, has been elected to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Greater Kansas City (GKC) Post Board of Directors for a one year term beginning January 2026.
McKinney appeared on the Post’s official 2026 ballot and was elected by membership to serve as one of its Directors. The GKC Post is one of SAME’s largest chapters, representing more than 600 individual members and over 100 sustaining member firms across the regional A/E/C community.
The mission of the SAME GKC Post is to bring together professionals from uniformed services, public agencies, private industry, and academia to collaborate on engineering, infrastructure, and readiness challenges throughout the Kansas City region. The Post also supports professional development, mentoring, student outreach, and community-based initiatives that strengthen the local engineering community.
As Director, McKinney will help guide Post activities, facilitate member engagement, and support programs that connect partners across the region to share ideas, strengthen relationships, and work together on engineering and infrastructure-focused initiatives.

I look forward to working with my fellow Directors to strengthen collaboration across the Kansas City region and support the community that serves our military agencies.”
McKinney is brings extensive experience in federal programs and interagency collaboration to his new role.
